ENT Week + General
This Wednesday we went to ENT Hearing and Balance Center on Keene St to meet with Dr. Rivera about Jerry’s vertigo and balance issues. Turns out the Scopolamine was only meant for short term use during episodes, not daily consumption. It was blocking the brain’s communication to a part in the ear that controls balance. We’re going Wednesday 7/20 to get some blood work done for B12 and Vitamin D levels to see if that has any impact on the vertigo. We’re also going to get an MRI done on the brain to make sure there are no issues, they only have a CAT scan on record.
Jerry’s catheter bag came off last Friday and he’s near a fully functioning senior citizen. He’s getting around a lot better and looking generally healthier. He made it from Booches around the corner and up the hill to Harpo’s on Wednesday, he had to be carried out of Harpos after we got kicked out.
We currently have Sam, Danielle’s step sister coming in from roughly 8am-10am to help get him going since nobody is typically at the house during the day anymore. She makes sure his pills are taken, makes breakfast, does light cleaning, provides some social life. My work is kindly letting me work remote Wednesday and Thursday, so I drive up early Wednesday to take him to scheduled appointments based around that schedule. Long term, we’re pretty set on selling the house to allow for more cushion in Jerry’s account to be able to comfortably afford an apartment or townhome in some sort of retirement community or retirement resort as I’m referring to it. He’s a lot more open to that type of community, he mentioned he felt a lot better after spending time recovering at Columbia Post Acute Center. He hit the PT gym twice a day while he was there and I think activity and some type activity daily to get his blood flowing will help his overall health and healing capabilities.
I’ll try to update this site weekly so everybody has updates that include some good things as well as the worrisome things.
